The Walk up the River

Hello! So it's been awhile since I've written anything so today's blogpost is from a exactly a week ago. Last week on Tuesday we did Walk 10.
We started at La Fontaine Saint-Michel. This fountain depicts Michael defeating the Dragon (aka Lucifer) I thought that this sculpture was pretty sweet, so its actually going to be the topic of one of my papers I have to write.

After the fountain we descended into the Latin quarter. We walked down a road crowded with restaurants and owners begging you to come and buy their food. On the road we stopped at the Theatre de la Huchette, which was a small theater that became super famous by debuting "La Cantatrice Chauve" (the Bald Soprano).

After stopping at the Theater we walked past the narrowest street in Paris rue de Chat-qui-Peche.

Our next stop was a lovely little church by the name of l'eglise Saint-Severin.

It had gorgeous stained glass and lovely stone columns and parapets.

Then we walked down to Place Saint Andre-des-Arts where we walked down past really old cool buildings to a very picturesque part of Paris. There were outdoor cafes and a man serenading us all with accordian music. It was very lovely.

This is where the salons were for the philosophers just before the French Revolution like Voltaire, Rousseau, Diderot

Continuing down past all of the art galleries and l'Ecole des beaux-arts we walked through an arch that is part of l'institut de France aka l'Academie francaise aka the place where unwanted words get killed, and looked at le Pont des arts which connects to the Louvre.
The gates of Ecole des Beaux Arts

Instead of crossing the bridge we continued next to the Seine and looked at the bouquinistes.
Right before Pont Neuf we walked down to the road right next to the Seine and walked under the bridge.

We finished off the day shopping the bouquinistes and then returning to the fountain.

So all in all a very lovely walk, besides my growing sickness at that point this walk was fairly painless and pretty enjoyable.
Until the next post--:)
